Pink for furniture - THE PASSION OF PINK WHITE PAINT AND THE LOVE OF VALENTINE'S DAY
Our old furniture and small bathroom got a completely new and wonderful life during our painting boom.
The worn and faded paint surfaces were painted with Frenchic's delicious pink Bon Bon and Sweet Cheek shades and the changes were pretty incredible!
Read on and check out the BEFORE and AFTER pictures: what do you think of the changes?
A 100-year-old chest of drawers gets a new life with pink chalk paint
I think this old chest of drawers, which belongs to my dear grandparents, has a wonderful shape.
We actually have two of these: the other green one is in the bedroom, waiting for the next painting boom 😉 This one was in the worse condition of the two. The paint was cracked in many places and the white had turned a dirty grayish color throughout.
We washed the dresser and applied three coats of Frenchic Chalk Wall Paint in Sweetcheeks . As I was painting, I was reminded of my autumn vacation experience of how pleasant and easy it is to paint with Frenchic paints.
They cover the underlying shade really quickly and even after hasty brush strokes, they blend out amazingly smoothly.
It's worth reading my blog post from last fall to learn more about what other benefits chalk paint has!
We also tried Frenchic's new product for finishing painted surfaces: Tuff Top Coat . This matte finish provides a durable finish for surfaces that are heavily used (tabletops, kitchen cabinets, garden furniture, etc.).
This coating leaves the surface of the furniture matte; in fact, the coating was practically invisible after drying.
After using this craft table for a month and a half, we still don't see any signs of wear on the surface, so it seems to be working well. Next time we could try the Finishing coat, which gives a glossy surface.
New marshmallow pink shades for the chair and stool
This flea market find chair has been with us since our first home in Kallio; almost 15 years.
I've always loved its beautiful shape and especially the details on the legs. The chair has served us as a flower stand, a side table, and for its "real" purpose.
My friend and I applied two coats of Sweetcheeks to this. We also coated this with Tuff Top Coat, so it will withstand moving flower pots, for example, better in the future.
This stool is also a flea market find from years ago.
It is currently being used as a chair at my first-year school desk, and when we were painting his walls over the fall break, we agreed that the stool would be painted the same color as the wall over the next break.
This turned out to be a real treat with two coats of Frenchic Chalk Wall Paint in the Bon Bon shade 😊
My firstborn painted her own stool all by herself: Frenchic chalk paints are wonderfully easy and safe for children to use.
Can I just do my homework without snacking on marshmallows at the same time...? 😉
Updating the children's bookshelf to match the colors of our home decor
I remember it only cost a few tens of euros and seemed to be very durable. I also liked the movable shelves at the flea market and I thought that the shelf would definitely hold even the girls' biggest children's books.
We bought the green bookcase just a few years ago.
However, the shelf has been far too dark green for us. It has been mostly covered with a yellow tablecloth 😉 Now it was time to give it a new color that better suits our interior.
We also chose Sweetcheeks for this because the shelf is located in the immediate vicinity of the craft table and the new furniture brings a uniform angle to the wall of our living room facing the balcony.
When I painted this, I was surprised that three coats of the light Sweetcheeks shade covered the dark green shade really well; and no primer was needed.
Easy and quick – a really suitable painting for such an emergency pantsuit 😊
Pink update for the small bathroom
Our downstairs powder room had been recently painted before we moved into this house in 2017. It was sleek and modern, but terribly colorless. So we decided to paint a couple of coats of white (and perforated and blue-sticky…) on the top. Bon Bon .
Thanks to a few hours of nice work and hustle, this turned out to be a really delicious room to settle into in the morning. It feels a bit like waking up peacefully to a new day inside the Moomin pink clouds 😊
Now I'm happy about all these pink changes we've made – our rooms and furniture – which I think go really well with the yellow <3
Which painting site was your favorite and did you think experienced the most subtle change? What about the last color you painted there or what color painting do you dream of?
Psssst! Also check out our fall vacation painting project , where the walls of the girls' rooms underwent amazing changes. <3
