Frenchic’s chalk paints are odorless, water-based, and EN71-3 certified, making them suitable for children's furniture as well. Additionally, the paints are very easy to use: they spread smoothly, dry quickly, and leave a beautiful matte finish that withstands everyday use year after year.

How to paint successfully – step by step

Painting with chalk paint isn’t complicated, but a few simple steps ensure the best possible result:

  • Clean the surface thoroughly. Use, for example, Sugar Soap cleaner to remove dirt, grease, and dust. The paint’s adhesion depends on how clean the surface is.

  • Light sanding. Especially on smooth or glossy surfaces, light sanding improves paint durability.

  • Stir the paint before use. Thorough mixing ensures the correct shade and even distribution of important protective agents.

  • Paint as usual and follow drying times between coats. Usually, two coats are enough for full coverage. Let the first coat dry properly before applying the next. Frenchic paints do not require thinning.

Although the paint becomes surface dry in just a couple of hours, it reaches full hardness after about three weeks. During this time, protect the surface from heavy wear to keep the finish flawless for a long time.

Style and atmosphere – what can you do with chalk paint?

Chalk paint offers the opportunity to play with colors, textures, and styles. Do you want to create a rustic atmosphere on an old sideboard or a fresh, modern look on a nightstand?

Frenchic Paint’s wide color range offers shades from soft natural tones to bold accent colors. Paints can be used in a single color or layered to create effects like patina.

The following styles are especially popular:

  • Shabby chic: A slightly worn, romantic style that’s easy to achieve with light sanding after painting.

  • Dry brushing: Lightly brush dry paint onto the surface to create subtle texture.

  • Patination: Combining several shades and using wax creates depth and an antique look.

These techniques don’t require art studies or special tools – just a bit of courage and willingness to experiment.

Durable and easy-care finish

Surfaces painted with chalk paint withstand everyday wear surprisingly well, especially when you choose a high-quality product. Frenchic paints already contain protective agents, but for example, kitchen countertops or bathroom furniture can be given extra protection with Finishing Coat or Tuff Top Coat. This provides additional grip and moisture resistance.

Cleaning painted surfaces is also easy: use a mild detergent and a soft cloth, avoid strong solvents and steam cleaning. In most cases, a light wipe is enough – and the beautiful surface stays in good condition for a long time.
