Tips for pot painters

Decorate your garden like passionate gardeners and experts around the world: Colors and styles should also be visible in the yard, garden, terrace, and balconies!

What if you paint the front door and the large pots by the door frame in the same shade!
A colorful welcome greeting will surely get the deserved admiring sigh and attention from both guests and neighbors.

Painting pots is easy with the Frenchic series paints. Here are simple instructions and a few tips for your project. With these instructions, you can create beautiful indoor pots from old ones in addition to outdoor pots!

Remember these instructions when painting pots:

Prepare the pot’s paintable surface like any other paintable surface:

  • Wash off soil and moss from the outside and inside surfaces of the pot.

  • Only paint dry and clean surfaces.
  • After washing clay pots/porous materials, drying time can be up to 24h, depending on the pot size and the temperature where drying takes place. A good rule is: wash and paint on different days.
  • Follow drying times between paint layers (2h for Al Fresco).
  • Seal / coat the inside of porous clay pots and similar.
  • Also paint and seal the bottom of the pot.

  • Store painted pots and furniture protected from the weather during winter.

  • Remember to take before and after photos!
Sometimes an old pot just needs a little tidying up, and a beautiful coat of paint refreshes the look, making the pot like new again. The pot below is painted with a light beige, Cool Beans, Al Fresco shade.

First, consider whether your pot will be used outdoors or indoors.

  • You can paint indoor pots with any of the Frenchic series paints.
  • For indoor pots, you can use powder mixed into the paint to add texture if you want a patinated surface.
  • You can use various painting techniques on the surface of the pots to create layering.
  • You can paint outdoor pots with Al Fresco series paints.

Boldly pick your favorite color for your pots

The clay pots in the picture are painted with the ink blue After Midnight shade from the Al Fresco series.
You can paint your front door, garden, or balcony furniture in the same shade.

Al Fresco is suitable for outdoor surfaces and is weather-resistant paint.

Choose Al Fresco series paints for outdoor pots; their shades don’t fade in the sun because Al Fresco paints contain UV protection and mold inhibitors.

Any Frenchic paint series suits indoor pots. You can paint plastic pots, metal or concrete pots, and various ceramic pots.

Tip! Combine old pots into tall pots with feet or towers by gluing one pot upside down under another, or make beautiful stands for pots. Finish the look by painting it all in a uniform color. Repaint old garden decorations and small statues beautifully.

Your own style - recycle and DIY

You can also paint a glazed vase. The dark and shiny vase has been painted to look like an old clay pot. Texture-giving Saltwash powder has been added to the white paint.

Combine handmade hanging baskets with unique pots to create a new style from old pots. The picture below uses the black Blackjack shade and the white Whitey White shade from the Lazy range series. A handmade leather hanging basket completes the modern look.

Recycle, renew, and beautify

If your style or yard changes, don’t throw away old items; instead, repaint them to fit, pair with beautiful hanging baskets or stands painted in the same shade. You don’t always have to buy new!
