Our wall paint series is officially tested and approved for painting wooden floors, and the convenient 2.5 liter container is enough to paint approximately 36m2 in one go.
You can paint smaller floor areas with paints from the Al Fresco series, for example. With a 750ml can you can paint about 13m2 in one go. When calculating consumption, note that all Frenchic paints can be painted at least twice.
A new, untreated wooden surface will absorb more paint than normal.
Because the wall paints in the wall paint series are also washable, they are well suited for painting wooden floors. Our wall paints have been awarded ISO classification, mark abrasion class 1 and have won the award for best washable paint.
The yellow checkered floor in the picture was painted in the shade Honeycombe.

Why paint an old wooden floor?
Painting an old wooden floor will extend the life of the floor and give the room a completely new look. Compared to renovating the floor, painting saves money and is an ecologically smart choice. A colorful floor doesn't have to be flashy, it can be subdued and stylish - and not always gray. The pastel aqua green shade Breezing was chosen for the floor in the picture.

Here's how you can do it – step-by-step painting of a wooden floor:
1. Prepare the floor carefully
Remove dirt and dust, and wash the floor thoroughly using an effective and heavy-duty cleaner, such as Sugar Soap.
2. Sand and prime if necessary
If the floor surface is particularly worn or uneven, light sanding and the use of a leveling primer may be necessary. Vacuum and mop away sanding dust before painting.
3. Protect the environment and move furniture out of the way
It is not always necessary to remove the moldings. Carefully protect the baseboards and the lower parts of the walls with masking tape and use protective paper or plastic. You can also paint the moldings with our paints.
4. Apply the first coat of paint
Mix the paint thoroughly, along the bottom of the can. Apply the paint normally and evenly with a quality brush or roller. Let the paint coat dry according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 2-4 hours. Proceed with the painting work one board at a time, painting lengthwise.
5. Apply a second layer
A second coat of paint will enhance the color and durability. Allow to dry thoroughly, preferably overnight, before using the floor.
6. Finish the surface
If you wish, you can protect the painted floor with wax or varnish for added durability.
Tips for successful floor painting:
- Careful groundwork is the key to a successful outcome.
* Use quality tools and work in normal layers of paint, avoid layers that are too thick. - Plan the progress of the painting job before you start.
* Let the paint dry properly so that the floor can withstand wear and tear for a long time.
Consider the wear and tear of surfaces before painting
- Is the previously painted floor surface particularly worn in any place?
- Do you need a rug to protect your painted kitchen floor from moving chairs?
- The painted floor surface in the hallway wears out quickly from sand and walking in shoes without the protection of a rug.
- It is recommended to care for and wash painted floors with mild detergents. Avoid strong cleaning solutions and steam cleaning on painted surfaces.
